Nostagia Ultra is an album pretending to be a mix tape, but the above poster but one wouldnt know his arse from his Elbow if Guy Garvey was playing it like a trumpet, theres a Coldplay cover for a start, one song is based on the Eagles “hotel california” whilst another is based on an MGMT track with Ocean singing over the sample, add into that a rehash of a Mr Hudson track, movie and game soundtrack and you have a really good listen, as anyone who had actually listened to it would know.Īnd whilst this is good its not a patch on the above Nostalgia ultra was a mixtape which they wanted to re-release as an album (not sure if they did, sure you can look it up) but primarily it was a mixtape on July 10th, 2012 at 3:31 pm don’t talk about what you don’t know, nostalgia ultra IS a mixtape. it has more than one song using samples (like american wedding, nature feels or strawberry swing). seb you talk like you actually know nostalgia ultra.Frank Ocean is a great artist and can only get better. it is not over other people’s music (other than the one interlude with radiohead) and it is was put together to be released as an album, but the label didn’t put it out.

Now that I have the entirety of that zip file downloaded to a completely irrational number of places literally less than 5 minutes after discovering this page… I am truly, deeply terrified to actually listen to it. When I realized that I might never find the actual zip that I really did download from that actual Tumblr post in 2011, I felt a sense of panicky loss.…Ģ.
Weirdly, this has just resulted into personally profound realizations:ġ. I don’t think anything has not yet been said about this tape, but it was originally released on Tumblr and then disappeared for years - I don’t think you can even find it on Dat Piff.
